About Herndon Station
Herndon Metro station opened on November 15, 2022, bringing the historic Town of Herndon its first rapid-transit rail connection. The station is positioned along the Dulles Toll Road corridor near the intersection of Herndon Parkway, providing commuters and residents with a fast link to Tysons, downtown DC, and Dulles International Airport.
The Town of Herndon, founded in 1858, has a charming historic downtown centered on Elden Street with restaurants, the Herndon Community Center, and Town Hall. While the Metro station is located about 1–2 miles from the historic downtown core, local bus service connects the two areas.
The station area is surrounded by the Dulles technology corridor with numerous corporate headquarters and government contractors. A Park & Ride garage serves commuters from throughout the Herndon community and surrounding neighborhoods.

- Fares are charged by distance, so a trip from Herndon costs slightly less than the same trip from the Phase 2 stations further west. On a weekday between 5:00 AM and 9:30 PM the fare rises with distance towards the $6.75 maximum, and is capped at $2.25–$2.50 after 9:30pm and at weekends.
