Ashburn is the western terminus of the WMATA Silver Line, opened on November 15, 2022 as part of the Phase 2 extension that brought rail service to Loudoun County for the first time. The station anchors one of the most important technology corridors in the United States — Ashburn is home to more data centers than any other location on Earth, earning it the nickname "Data Center Alley."

- Metrorail charges by distance, and Ashburn is the farthest point on the network from downtown: the weekday daytime fare to Metro Center reaches the $6.75 system maximum with SmarTrip, and is capped at $2.50 after 9:30pm and at weekends. Load your card in advance to avoid kiosk lines.
