About Ashburn Station
Ashburn is the western terminus of the WMATA Silver Line, opened on November 15, 2022 as part of the Phase 2 extension that brought rail service to Loudoun County for the first time. The station anchors one of the most important technology corridors in the United States — Ashburn is home to more data centers than any other location on Earth, earning it the nickname "Data Center Alley."
The station serves Loudoun County residents and employees who commute into DC, Tysons Corner, and the broader Northern Virginia employment belt. A large Park & Ride garage makes it the preferred commuter starting point for the westernmost suburbs.
The surrounding community is characterized by dense tech campuses, One Loudoun's mixed-use retail and dining district, and newer residential communities that grew rapidly following the Silver Line's announcement. Ashburn represents the westernmost reach of the entire WMATA system.
