About Stadium-Armory Station
Stadium-Armory opened on November 20, 1977, as part of the original Blue and Orange Line extension east of downtown Washington DC. The station serves the large RFK Stadium campus and the DC Armory, and occupies a key role in the WMATA system as the last station shared by all three lines before they diverge in different directions heading east.
The DC Armory, directly adjacent to the station, hosts a year-round calendar of events including trade shows, home improvement expos, job fairs, sports tournaments, and community gatherings. The RFK Stadium campus — historically home to the Washington Commanders and DC United — continues to host large events and is the proposed site of a new National Football League stadium.
The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail is accessible from the station area, offering a scenic multi-use path along the Anacostia River that connects to the National Arboretum, Kingman Island, and the neighborhoods of Capitol Hill and Anacostia.

- If you're heading to Largo Town Center via the Blue Line, be sure to board a Blue Line train — Orange and Silver trains diverge east here toward Maryland, not toward Benning Road and Largo.
- On event days at RFK or the DC Armory, the station can get extremely crowded. Plan to arrive early and allow extra time for boarding after large events.
- The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail entrance is a short walk from the station, offering scenic walking and cycling along the river. The trail connects east to Anacostia and west toward the National Mall waterfront.
