About Potomac Yard-VT Station
Potomac Yard-VT is the newest station on the Washington Metro. It opened on 19 May 2023 as the system's 98th station, serving the Blue and Yellow lines in Alexandria, Virginia, on the stretch of track between Braddock Road and Reagan National Airport.
It is only the second infill station ever built on the network — a station inserted into an existing line rather than added at the end of an extension. The "VT" in the official name refers to the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus rising beside the northern entrance.
For riders, Potomac Yard-VT is one stop from Reagan National Airport and puts the Potomac Yard district and the Virginia Tech campus directly on the Blue and Yellow lines.

Rider Tips
- Reagan National Airport is a single stop north on either the Blue or the Yellow Line, which makes this one of the easiest stations in the system for an early flight.
- There is no parking and no kiss-and-ride here. If you need to drive to a station, Braddock Road and Huntington are the nearer alternatives.
- Capital Bikeshare has 17 docks at the station plus a secure bike storage room — unusually good cycle provision for a Metro stop.
- Check which pavilion you want before you arrive. The two entrances sit at opposite ends of the platform, and the northern one is the one for the Virginia Tech campus.
